In The Spirit of Things

Here is a short story I stumbled upon on the net,  titled ” The School Lunch”.

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun had posted a note on the apple tray : “Take only one. God is watching.” At the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies. A child has written a note, ” Take all you want, God is watching the apples”.

This story has outlined the innocence and purity of a child who’s mind is not a victim of the worldly ways YET. There is something about being naive, really interesting things come your way, because you don’t know what the rules are, what you can & what you can’t.

In spite of the spurt in materialism, egoism and self-orientation among the people in today’s modern society, we still have the kind of people who put others’ needs before theirs. People who have out grown the greed for MORE.

BABAR ALI : World’s youngest Headmaster! Babar Ali at the age of 16, is responsible for educating hundreds of poor children in his village, Murshidabad, in West Bengal. His is a remarkable tale to learn and spread education amid the direst poverty.

VIMLENDU JHA : Vimlendu is from Bhagalpur, India and is a dynamic environmentalist. He has founded swechha, we for change, an organisation aiming to improve the pitiable shape of Yamuna, the lifeline of Delhi.

Kudos to these men. I hope their tales  inspire you all and instill in you the urge for doing something for OTHERS for once, because the experiencing is indeed life changing.
